It’s all bullpoo
Welcome to InvisionFree’s latest craze. It seems that word of the era has become ‘bullshit’, or BS as it’s written. I don’t want an entire blog of profanity so I’ll use the latter useage herein - and that is what is currently being written. I have to say though it’s beginning to annoy me.
I guess this is somewhat similar to Luna’s hate of the word suck, or rather the term ’sucks’. In some topic about what we hate, she mentioned she hated people saying things suck. And it’s understandable. Well, this is sort of similar. While it’s expressing an opinion, it’s a vile and rather ignorant way to do so if you ask me. I’m seeing a lot of responses in debates and the like about ‘it’s all BS!’, ‘DEAR NONEXISTINGENTITY THERE’S NO EVIDENCE SO IT MUST BE BS!!!!!’, etc. It’s rather irritating. Some people are evidence-junkies or lean heavily towards the side of science and require evidence for everything. Now while I’m somewhat like that, I don’t like this thing of discrediting everything simply because there’s no evidence. Bearing in mind, of course, that what constitutes as evidence is merely one’s perception of a material or observed situation; what is evidence to one person is coincedence to another. So I guess I should say ‘I don’t like this thing of discrediting everything simply because there’s no evidence to suit personal belief.’ Because that’s what it is, personal belief. Just because something is widely accepted does not make it set in stone, nor definite.
Why can’t people express their opinions in a more respectable fashion? The reason I see it as being disrespectful is because saying that someone’s opinion or viewpoint is complete BS is the real life equivelant of saying you’ll hear someone out, then listening to them and then saying they’re wrong and you’re right, period. End of story. Not up for debate.
It’s discouraging too. How does one debate a theory with someone who will simply stick their cyber fingers into their cyber ears and ignore you unless you say what they want to hear?
Even as someone who needs evidence to be convinced, I don’t discredit things offhand. I might not believe the Bible and think it to be anything but evidence and a mere binder of myths and stories but if someone wishes to debate it as being evidence then I’m happy to argue why it isn’t, and equally listen to why the other person thinks it is. In the end I’m likely to not agree, and yes some debates I pretty much know I won’t be swayed, but it seems rather brash to simply go in and say ‘This is what I think, here’s the proof so you must be talking BS’ and then spend the rest of the debate reiterating it.
It simply lacks any respect if you ask me. And we should respect others and their opinions, regardless of how ridiculous, out there or contradictory to your own they may be.
Now, I’m hungry.
I think I’ll have cheese on toast. ^_^

Ah the fall back of the Java Chat attacking other’s beleafes -_- Its getting old fast,

*steals your cheese and toast* :shifty: And runs away to eat it.
I’ve found it’s pretty much impossible to have a reasonable debate online. I just decided stay away from topics and stuff like that because they are blech.
